Notre Dame graduate Kevin Salvano has had a fabulous start to his professional running career. In his marathon debut in January, Kevin placed ninth at the World Athletics’ gold-label 2023 Houston Marathon in a time of 2:16:39. In achieving his Olympic Trials qualifier, Salvano, a self-coached non-elite race entry, ran perfectly even splits of 1:08:29 and 1:08:10. Amazingly, he improved on that performance less than six months later by finishing seventh (2nd American) at Grandma’s Marathon in Duluth, MN in a sparkling time of 2:11:49; a personal best in the marathon by nearly 5 minutes.
At Notre Dame, Salvano played an integral role on two ACC cross country championship teams and on teams that garnered top ten and runner-up finishes at NCAAs. Among his collegiate accomplishments, Salvano was a Great Lakes All-Region cross-country selectee and captained the 2019 Fighting Irish team that finished 2nd in the ACC Championship and 8th at the NCAA D1 Championships. At ND he ran a personal best of 28:54 for 10,000 meters and earned All-ACC honors, finishing 4th at that distance at the ACC Track & Field Championships.
Kevin is a 2016 graduate of Buffalo Grove High School, a northwest suburb of Chicago, where he was All-State for three years in cross country and the Illinois 3A individual state champion his senior year. He has a Master’s degree in accounting (also from Notre Dame) and is a licensed CPA working in finance for a firm in Chicago. Kevin is a Saucony sponsored athlete.
