A  2019 graduate of Bowling Green State University in Ohio, Rachel Walny is the most decorated distance runner in that program’s history. The captain of both the cross country and track teams, she holds school records at various distances including the cross country 5k, cross country 6k, 5,000m indoors, and 10,000m outdoors.  A 4X Mid-American Conference First Team honoree in cross country, Rachel is the only Bowling Green athlete ever to have been selected to the NCAA D1 All-Region (Great Lakes) Cross Country team for all 4 years of eligibility. At 10,000m she is a 2X honorable mention NCAA D1 All-American and has posted the 5 fastest times at that distance in school history. Rachel won her first two races as a professional. In her pro debut, she was the champion of the 46th annual Dexter-Ann Arbor (MI) 10k in a time of 34:59, setting a new course record. In August of 2019, she was the top American and 8th place finisher in the highly competitive  CRIM 10 Mile race in Flint, Michigan in a time of 56:55.  Later that year Rachel finished 9th in her professional half marathon debut at the Indianapolis Monumental Half Marathon in Indiana in a time of 1:14:42. In December of 2020, she was awarded a dual Masters degree in kinesiology and nutrition from her alma mater. Rachel is coached by Sue Parks, the highly successful head cross-country and track & field coach at Eastern Michigan University.
